Marina Urchukina was born in Moscow, went to MGIK, Moscow, Russia. For as long as she can remember, she always painted. Drastic changes in her country, taking care of her child and family later, veered Marina off the professional career for a while, though. But recently Marina decided to come back. Marina loves flowers, she does mostly flowers: on canvas, on paper, on plywood, on baubles, anything goes. She lived and painted in the US, Slovenia, France, Russia, Ukraine. The best description of her would be a self-taught artist. Marina took a few private classes from some distinguished masters and gratefully absorbed their precious advice. Oil and acrylic on canvas, brush and palette knife are her favourite media and tools. She believes that art is about sharing. It is about sharing the artist's emotions. Marina thinks it is about sharing the moment of awe of the artist. Her feelings, this is what Marina tries to catch when she paints. She genuinely believes that the flowers, nature, in general, is a portal between the domains of reality and fantasy. Growing up, she read vast amounts of fairy tales and legends. Marina sometimes feels that this childhood experience spills into her painting. Perhaps it should be mentioned that Marina also wrote poetry. One may guess that her poetic view of the world also crawls into her works. The French and Russian impressionism, Peredvizhniki, Art Nouveau and Expressionism are an endless source of inspiration for Marina, helping her craft a unique personal style. Marina's primary tools currently are brush and palette knife. Works are in private collections in the US, Ukraine, Russia.
