Inspired by moments of confusion where it is difficult to understand where the truth lies and consequently what actions to take. The title of the work is not that written on the print; the latter serves only as some further food for thought. This painting is part of a series having cats as its main subject. The canvases are battered, scratched, painted and washed several times to obtain a background resembling a wall on which many layers of color have been applied and later removed. A personal representation of the constant work we do on ourselves to change/improve who we are without, unfortunately, being able to completely erase things from the past that stay with us. Cats, being animals with an ambivalent symbolism (both negative and positive), represent the unconscious which guides us in our experience as human beings. This series of paintings wants to represent states of waiting, moments where something has just happened or is about to happen and where we stop to think about our past actions or what actions to take next. The title of the work is not that written on the painting; the latter serves only as some further food for thought. Signed both front and back. The date of completion and thoughts which inspired the work are also marked on the back. The painting comes with a certificate with a detailed description and the English translation of the notes written on the back of the canvas.

Italy
Jerry Magni (born 1968 in Italy) is an Italian tattoo artist. His work investigates the impossibility of cleansing the unconscious, of taming it, like the cats on his battered, scratched, worn-out canvases, like obsolete walls on which several layers of peeled plaster overlap. Surreal subjects with sharp contours, just like emotions; reinterpreted, like feelings that, evolving, continue to leave a mark. He doesn’t have any reference artists, in the world of internet the influences are diverse, continuous, conflicting; likewise, the text on his paintings allow for diverse interpretations beyond the image. He paints nervously and instinctively alternating periods of inactivity to periods of extreme creativity.
