This work consists on two canvases that make up a diptych. They have been painted at the same time, with the idea that the color would move from the palette to one canvas, and then to the other. The shared tonalities make the eye move between the two works in harmony, helping to understand the work as a whole. In HIGH TIDE the painting has been mixed more, like the sea when it rises on the beach. The companion piece LOW TIDE, with the blue and white shades, resembles the clear and foamy water that we see during its retreat. The cycle of life is a widely represented theme in the history of art. The message that this work aims to convey is not new in terms of its formulation: birth-death, war-peace, love-abandonment, man-woman, moon cycle. However, the pictorial language is unique to each painter, so these pieces are indeed new to our contemporary epxperience. On both canvases we see paint dragged with a spatula, gold pigment and also glazing. These techniques have been worked cohesively to obtain a pictorially rich result of interest to the viewer. The last layer of varnish will provide protection and durability of the piece. This artwork is signed at the back and a Certificate of Authenticity is provided for your future record.

Beatriz Vazquez is a Spain-based painter who draws on colour psychology and her environment in Asturias (Spain Northern rural area) for an ever-evolving source of inspiration in her abstract landscape paintings. Beatriz was classically trained and obtained her Fine Arts degree from her hometown Seville, in South Spain. Creativity has been present in her daily life since a young age, always interested in drawing and looking at images on art books. Her paintings speak to whimsical notions of abstraction, as well as the colour palette of realist painters, such as Antonio Lopez Garcia. However, the artist employs delicate, muted tones and mark making, and layers of oil and acrylic that reveal traces of memory that pose sensitive reflections on the world, void of ego. Often working large-scale canvases with acrylic and oil paint, Beatriz utilises her research in colour psychology to give the works a sensory effect — the harmonious tones of the environment connect her audience to the landscape she creates within. Texture is built through gestural mark-making to imprint the canvas, indicative of the time and thought that she pours out on each one of her pieces. She has been finalist in several contemporary painting awards, exhibits regularly and sells her work to a both national and international clientele. Written by Susan Dorothea Hargrave
