Eileen Olson was born in Brooklyn, NY. As an R.N. , Eileen practiced critical care nursing for over 35 years. She switched careers once her three daughters left for adventures of their own. She is a partner at Gallery One in Ocean View, DE and also teaches workshops. She is a former co-owner and executive director of Spectrum Gallery in Washington, D.C. Always pushing the envelope, Olson’s strengths are in color and form, with the ability to distill the essence of nature into her paintings. She has a sensitive and personal style of painting while expressing her emotions in an imaginative and beautiful way. Her most recent works of exploration demonstrate her sensitive use of colors that open into forms of softened geometry that rule the surface. Her creations are characterized by brave applications of color in both painterly and geometric compositions in pastel, oils and water media. For more than two decades, Eileen has been engaged in an ongoing experiment with painting. She constantly seeks to modify her approach, resisting the comfort of tendency and maintaining the freshness of an unchartered territory Last November, Eileen spent a month in an artist-in-residency in Dinan, France, in Brittany and had an exhibition of her work at La Grande Vigne . One of her works was selected to be displayed at Les Amis de la Grande Vigne as part of the town’s permanent collection. Olson currently resides in Bethany Beach, DE. She’s a member of the Rehoboth Art League and Art League of Ocean City. Her work can be found in both private and corporate collections in the US and abroad.
