Influences : Jackson Pollock, Lucio Fontana, Gerhard Richter, Pierre Soulages Painting technique: Oil on canvas, applied with knife "The abstract paintings highlight a method: not to have a subject, not to calculate, but to develop, to be born." Gerhard Richter, 1985 The life of this atypical self-taught artist begins in Tours, France, in 1967. A multi-faceted artist, jack of all trades, he explores making music and music production as an A&R, while untiringly developing his very personal painting technique, exploring materials and adapting his style of painting with a knife. He finally finds satisfaction in the creation of a series of paintings, "The Red Dog Series" that he begins to exhibit in galleries, private spaces and art exhibitions around Europe.  In 2010, a commission from Michelin-starred twin chefs the Pourcel Brothers takes him to work for a few weeks in Shanghai, China, at the Hong Merchant Gallery. The trip inspires him to write a book on his travels and experiences published in 2010, "Travelogue of a Painter in China" (editions La Compagnie Littéraire).   In 2011, he presents a new series of paintings, entitled "Black & Blue". These canvases, almost monochrome, with tar-like darkness, and as always, the material is worked with a knife. His tendancy towards abstract expressionism is in this series now complete.    In 2011, the Indre-et-Loire Departmental Council commissions a book from him, in the 'livre pauvre' style  -- handmade, hand written and hand drawn illustrated poetry books in extremely limited edition. He creates the book with poet/composer Christophe Julien. The sole example is on display at the Priory of St. Côme, former home of the 16th century poet Ronsard.  He continues to explore oil on canvas worked with a knife, and prepares a series of musical works to accompany the paintings, ‘drone music’, composed with the sounds emitted while painting.   The work is still defined in blacks or blues, monochromes structured around a discrete geometry, in this series called 'Season 2'.   After Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, & Shanghai, more exhibitions will be announced soon.   « Peindre n’est pas une finalité, l’oeuvre le devient » "Painting is not an end, the work becomes it"
