The artwork is inspired by a foto taken in the dessertlike landscape near Mono Lake, Califonia. Mono Lake is a natron lake in the center of the dry Great Basin. Since 1941 huge damage was done to the natural environment of the Mono Basin by taking off water to provide Los Angeles with trinking water.
