When we talk about nature, we inevitably identify the four elements as an integral part of its structure, not only of the planet itself, but also as a reflection of the various plans of our existence. In a way, we can transport these elements to us as follows: the earth element represents the structure of the physical body and its sensations; the water element is related to biochemistry, emotions and feelings; fire is directed to energy and intuition, to the spiritual plane; the air reports to the mind: thoughts, understanding and knowledge.

Different cultures and traditions integrate a similar conception of the elements. They can be found, for example, in the sacred scriptures of India and also in the philosophical root of Ayurvedic medicine. In China, they understood life through the complementarity of yin and yang energies, dividing the elements into these two groups: fire and air are considered active, they are related to yang energy; as passive water and land, related to yin energy.

The "Sands of Time" series seeks a connection with these elements through colors and shapes.

When we connect harmoniously with the elements, we become aware of our functions and start to perceive their presence in everything around us and in the nature that governs us

When we are in harmony with the four elements, we tend to reconnect, to reconnect with that divine essence that exists within us, regardless of the faith that each professes.

Catia Goffinet presents a multidisciplinary portfolio that deeply delves into stimulating scientific concepts, such as the universe and cosmic energies, weaving a narrative that explores our intrinsic connection with the macrocosm. Her works, distinguished by their geometric forms and abstractions, invite introspection, creating a link between the cosmos and everyday life. Each creation of Catia is a window to reflection, suggesting hidden layers of meaning in the external world and within. With her skill in using lines, colors, and shapes, Catia vitalizes her works, demonstrating refined technique and authentic artistic expression. She remains true to her unique style while exploring and integrating various artistic currents. Catia's works lead the viewer into a vibrant universe, populated with intense colors and dynamic geometries. This visually stimulating world encourages a deeper appreciation of harmonious patterns and textures. Her meticulous and demanding work surpasses the notion of simplicity, merging the worlds of science and art, and revealing a visually innovative cosmos, where the intangible is shaped into expressive and flawless forms. Born in 1973, in São Paulo, Catia currently resides and works in Serra da Cantareira, a natural sanctuary that serves as a source of inspiration and contemplation. This idyllic setting complements her meditative practice and stimulates her exploration of the unseen. Catia's artistic journey is extensive and diverse. She began her career at 14, teaching art and creativity to children, and had her first encounter with painting at 16. Although she explored other careers, art always remained a central pillar in her life, a commitment that intensified with studies at the Pan-American School of Art and MUBE - Brazilian Museum of Sculpture. In 2015, she made the decisive choice to leave the corporate sector to dedicate herself fully to art. Since then, Catia has made her presence felt in various group exhibitions in São Paulo, Uruguay, and Portugal, as well as participating in art fairs in New York and Los Angeles. Artist's Statement In my artistic approach, I pursue the notion that the universe is organized in an intrinsically mathematical structure. I maintain the belief that geometry, a crucial element of mathematics, is essential for understanding the architecture of the visible and the invisible, reflecting the order and harmony that exist in a cosmic dimension.
