ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The vibrant colours of silk has inspired me to work on this ongoing series. Each painting is unique, slightly textured with a smooth horizon, made with cosmetic grade wax and binder mixed with high quality pigments from Italy on braced panel. These small paintings complement large paintings or stand alone. The luminous encaustic surface is difficult to photograph but the natural sheen in the painting comes through from layers of fused wax medium.

Born in Wellingborough, England, 25 years of fast-paced London based travel industry work commitments took me world-wide. In 2009, I began oil painting under Talal Refit and continued for 6 years under Uwe Mueller (student of Henry Moore) at Kunstwerk in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. Somewhere along the road, I started experimenting with Encaustic and self-taught the wonderful medium of this ancient art, dating back between 1st - 3rd century. Today, for painting I alternate between encaustic on wood panels and oils on canvas working full-time at my atelier located in historic town of Jever, Germany.
