Art Description

Painting: Spray Paint, Ink, Fabric, Textile, Monotype on Paper, Soft (Yarn, Cotton, Fabric).

The imagery in this piece is inspired by the toothy Sarlacc Pit in Return of the Jedi. This scene made a huge impression on me as a child, especially as it was interspersed with the footage of Princess Leia strangling Jabba with her own chains. On a deeper level, it's a void or an ensō. The first layer is a monotype: ink was painted onto a piece of glass, and then a piece of paper was placed on top and hand rubbed to pull the image. The print was then allowed to dry before adding spray paint, fabric, and stitching.
