About The Artwork

This is a depiction of a scarecrow watching over the cornfield at night, the face of the scarecrow is the Aztec Mictlantecuhtli, watching over the harvest of the world. This is part of the Tribal Pop series which mixes ancient Mexican culture motifs with modern Pop Art. Bright colors, hard edge lines and minimalist treatments reminiscent of the California hard edge minimalist movement constitute the Pop side of the style, while the Tribal side is part of a study of ancient Mexico´s ethnic art.
