ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Soft Spinifex a perennial grass of the desert provided inspiration for my painting Scorpians and Angels. Being with the desert transforms my spirit when I view the vast, colourful, landscape, when the warm breeze touches my skin and the sound of the desert envelops me. A visit to Northern Australia one Autumn brought these beautiful grass hummocks to my attention. Long slender stalks from straw coloured clusters during the daylight are transformed in colour as dusk approaches. Greys of pink, ochre and purple create a dreamlike desert scene, a wonderous sensation that stimulates your senses, feelings and thoughts of the unique Australian landscape.
