ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This portrait was inspired by the mentorship of Reem Bassous, who challenged me to paint 200 self-portraits on paper. This was one of the most successful products, employing neon yellow and plum purple for a vibrating fusion of brush strokes.

Marshall Sharpe, b. 1988, is an acrylic and oil painter based in Santa Barbara, California. Sharpe received a BA in art from Elon University in 2010 and is pursing a Masters in Fine Art (MFA) in painting at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 2014, his work was featured in the Huffington Post. His work has been shown at Elon University, the Honolulu Museum of Art School, the Haleiwa Arts Festival, the Glassbox Gallery at UCSB and Gallery 113 in Santa Barbara.
