About The Artwork
I hand build my stretchers and face them with luan. Each work is finished with a a heavy weight, gallery wrapped canvas. I prepare the canvas with fresco and work the painting when dry. Rendered in acrylic then glazed with multiple rounds of oil paint - these paintings have a great nuance and luminosity. The nature of the surface gives the painting texture like a primitive or an artifact while the glazing gives a contemporary read. Inspired by the fishing boats in Senegal for their multicultural patterns and worn surfaces. My work is represented by galleries around the country and in collections worldwide.

Alicia LaChance is a full time painter based out of St. Louis, Missouri. She is represented by galleries across the Untied Sates. Recently, her painting, New Village, was reinterpreted as a 27' terrazzo floor public art installation at St. Louis International Airport. This work was also highlighted in the Wall Street Journal. Her paintings were selected by Julie Rodriguez Widholm, the Pamela Alper Associate Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, for the 2011 Midwest edition of New American Paintings. Most recently, she has been commissioned to create original artworks for Roman & Williams for a project at the CAA. The artist is proud to be working with a design team recently ranked by Architectural Digest as one of the top 100 design firms in the world. Her artwork is in collections throughout the US and abroad.
