About The Artwork

I prime and make unevenness effect by attaching modeling paste, gauze and sand on the homogenized plane, in order to make solid and stable surface. In addition to that, the attachment of substances could make the viewer experience more realistic and actual feeling. Even though I calls it substances, it is just the normal object for my artworks. Those are hovenia dulcis and paper mulberry that are used as traditional medical herbs, and corrugated cardboard and hardboard. These substances give the plane of canvas more perceptional depth. Although the expression of this kind of artworks is being extremely suppressed, 'the power of silence' could be paradoxically displayed based on the suppression of the artwork.

Explanation of Jeong-A Lee Artworks Even though the colors of blue, black, brown, yellow and green in my artworks could attract the eyes of people, 'the structure of casting supporters' of my artworks are focused overall. 'The supporter' could be 'a kind of habitat' to me. Everything grows in there and lives with other living things. Various aspects of life like flower buds and dense forest could be witnessed through the supporter. However, her artworks do not suggest only an expectation of bright and better tomorrow as we expected. Her artworks are accompanied by the agony of life along with glumness and dreariness. We feel like we are looking at the collapsed historic sites that once enjoyed a period of prosperity. The artists includes the support with a variety of nuances like Jacob Ruisdael who frequently represents the unattractive historic sites in his artworks, though the type of representation is different. Though the association of the ideas is closely related to the colors and substances, it is directly originated from the structure of supporter itself. When the artist use various substances, the main point would be how she could introjected the artwork with those substances. In other words, it could not exclude the intensive maintenance on the supporter and surfaces. If the substances on surface are not closely connected with the supporters and are floated, the overall structure of the formation could be loosened. In order to avoid this problem, the intensive inner structure of formation should be focused rather than the expression itself. In other words, the supporter consist of the surface and the surface is immersed in the supporter. Therefore, the relationship of mutual penetration is required prior to the overall expression. The artworks of brown tone and black tone seem to be definitely aware of those problems.
