ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Working from a video that I took while free-diving at Shark's Cove, Oahu, I painted this Oceanscape of two prominent bubbles trapped within the ripples on the surface of the ocean. Above the bubbles, the sky and clouds are visible through the water. Below the bubbles, the turquoise ocean waits in stillness. This painting is part of my 2016 Oceanscape series dealing with the theme of "Nurtured by a Hostile World."

Marshall Sharpe, b. 1988, is an acrylic and oil painter based in Santa Barbara, California. Sharpe received a BA in art from Elon University in 2010 and is pursing a Masters in Fine Art (MFA) in painting at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His work has been shown at Elon University, the Honolulu Museum of Art School, the Haleiwa Arts Festival, the Glassbox Gallery at UCSB and Gallery 113 in Santa Barbara.
