Shaun Ryder Limited Edition no 4 of 75 Giclee on paper 76.2cm x 76.2cm / 30" x 30" approx framed size 4.5cm face, chunky flat frame by a depth of 4cm Wood frame has dark chocolate undertone with metallic soft silver dry brush finish overtone. The print is triple mounted. Main colour is black, with a slither of light grey, followed by a slither of dark grey. I decided to draw Shaun Ryder as I grew up listening to my brother's Vinyl playing through his bedroom door, I fell in love with the Happy Monday's music. Blasting out great tunes like Kinky Afro and Step on, then as a young school girl in the 90's I never thought I'd get a chance to see this great band. On 12th May 2012 at Brixton Academy, my dream came true, I got to see The Happy Mondays for the first time in concert. Fantastic! And here you have my ode to the great Shaun Ryder. I hope you like him. I draw all my images in pencil first, study the way the light creates shapes on the face and then paint with gouache as I like the flat velvety effect this gives. My discipline lies within Psychology and Art. It has been said that we are made up of a multitude of personalities. Nothing is black and white only mere shades of grey. These grey fragmented jigsaw style pieces can be said to represent those different personalities which make up a person as a whole. Upon first glance we may not notice these so much but upon closer inspection of the artwork, and the personality, we slowly become aware of the fragments that make up the whole person

Lisa Bousfield is a Manchester born contemporary artist living in Ibiza. She has developed a distinctive black and white pop-art style, capturing the persona of leading personalities through her portrait work. Her technique is to sketch free hand, then fill in the areas with differing shades of black and white using acrylic gouache paint. Her original work is available on both paper and large scale canvas (with the largest original piece to date being 3m x 2m). All work is either original or available through a small run of limited edition prints. Lisa says “First of all I want the viewer to feel an instant familiarty, a connection, the love we hold for the celebrity. Then on another level, I hope the viewer will dissect the bigger picture and see it’s made up of shapes, symbolic of the celebrity personas; no one is solely black and white. Finally, I want them to get up close to the piece, to wonder ‘is it computer generated?’ only to realise it’s hand drawn. But ultimately, it is up to the viewer to interpret the piece.” To learn more about Lisa Bousfield read her interview in The Ibizan newspaper, issue 855, March 2017.
