ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Shibori is a Japanese resist dyeing technique (tie dyeing) which produces patterns on fabric and dates back to the 8th century. There are an infinite number of ways that cloth can be arranged to achieve a certain result. Indigo is the most popular dye used to create shibori. My painting uses elements of color, collage and thread to suggest the essence of shibori. This acrylic/mixed media painting is on 24" x 24" gallery wrapped canvas which does not require a frame.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Growing up in New York City was a great experience and has influenced my outlook on art and life. There was amazing access to museums and other cultural institutions and the energy of the city was always present. I have lived in California for many years now where I am close to both a major urban area and the beautiful Pacific Ocean, surrounded by incredible natural beauty. I am able to draw from many cultures for inspiration that influences my artwork, such as the Japanese concepts of wabi sabi and notan, and of haiku poetry. My series of Haiku Threads paintings reflect that influence.
