ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Shudha Prem - Pure Love The inspiration for this artwork comes from a mythological story I just recently read about the Hindu God Krishna and his beloved Radha. Painting these two together, was a divine feeling and I enjoyed creating the artworks a lot. There are a number of stories that go along with Krishna and Radha, some of them being highly contradictory and controversial, hence I would not like to get into the religious aspect of these artworks. Shudha Prem - Pure Love is a polyptych of 4 artworks together in a series where you are able to experience the pure love between Radha and Krishna in each panel. The whole polyptych if put together to form a square has dimensions of 56" by 56" The artworks are of 14" by 14" each and can be directly hung on the wall without the need of any fixtures. Two small nails stuck into the wall can do the trick, for each panel. These artworks can be hung in any order or fashion, as per your liking - You can hang them in a straight line horizontally or vertically one below the other. They can also be hung at different heights to give the wall a fuller and more interesting look, it is totally up to you, the collector to decide. The artwork sides have been painted so that framing is not necessary, but again that is up to the collector to decide. For all those Indian folk artwork collectors out there, this could be an awesome addition to your collection. Invest in this beautiful artwork.

The inclination towards painting and art was a natural transition. Being the daughter of an Architect who was an extraordinary artist himself meant that Ritina was exposed to drawings, precision, structure and expression of art from a very young age. Though, she did engage in painting during her academic years, it was more of a hobby and pass time activity whenever she needed to empty her mind and relax, which just faded away unknowingly as if pushed to the back burner. During her formative years, she engaged in a great deal of painting techniques, like fabric painting, art on pottery, and wooden surfaces, all just a source of enjoyment. It wasn’t till very recent times that she really started pursuing this passion seriously. Her works of art have been sold and gifted to a lot of her friends and family. The recent years have been an interesting journey, where she looks back and see’s the transformation of an amateur to a more professional level as an artist. However, the more interesting part has been her enjoying every single moment of this journey. The more she learns, the more she realizes, how much she does not know about the infinite spectrum of art! Living in the peaceful town of Tennessee, USA, has been a blessing, as it has let Ritina explore and express her creativity through every new piece of art she creates. Losing track of time when engrossed in art is so very true for this artist, who toils for perfection, by giving each piece of artwork her true heart and soul. So rightly said in her own words – “Each piece of my artwork is like a piece of me being reflected through it. They are me in the form of a painting.” Guess it is true that when passion becomes profession, you never work again! A self-taught artist, with no training in the field of art and painting, she has reached her present level of skill through practice and watching other artists at work on the internet. She enjoys using various surfaces, mediums and textures for painting and is always keen to try out something new. Doing commissioned artwork is a challenge which gives her an opportunity to stretch her limits even further. Recently, she ventured into portrait painting too, which is a whole new arena by itself. Basically, her preferred medium has always been acrylics, due to its speedy drying time. Sometimes the use of oils, where blending and creating textures, has always been simpler, also indulges her.
