This abstract painting is from a series which draws from various types of patterns and graphic imagery to create
spaces that are colorful and active. These paintings incorporate acrylic and oil paint, and occasionally I will also draw directly onto the canvas. The paintings start with a simple wash of color, then use disparate, often decorative elements to develop an environment or space that
can be foggy and undefined but still calls to mind the ideas of growth and decay; a beautiful and decorative domain.

I am a painter whose work explores themes of isolation, grief, and healing. My work has been shown in various exhibitions in the U.S. and internationally, and I am a fellow at several residencies, most notably at the Florence Trust Studios in London, MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts, and the Vermont Studio Center, where I was awarded a full fellowship and stipend to attend. Recent exhibitions include solo shows at Buckham Gallery in Flint, MI, and the Mary Helen Cochran Library at Sweet Briar College, and a three-person exhibition at The Leonor Fuller Gallery in Olympia, WA. I was awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 2020 and in 2018 I received the Ruth and Harold Chenven Foundation Grant. I received a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and MFA from the University of Chicago.
