"Sleeping Venus" acrylic on canvas 90 by 90 cm. Syg: bottom left corner Sleeping Venus bottom right corner M.Ł 023 Back: Małgorzata Łodygowska 2023 "Sleeping Venus" Varnished. No framing required. Painted sides. Artificial pearls are sewn to the image. The inspiration for this painting was the work Sleeping Venus - a painting painted around 1508-1510 by the Italian Renaissance painter Giorgione. The author did not manage to finish the work before his death, his student Titian did. It is a kind of painting cover, filtered through the artist's sensitivity. The titular Venus wears a sleeping blindfold embroidered with artificial pearls, improving the quality of sleep, but also hindering reactions in case of danger. However, there is a knuckleduster next to her, a discreet weapon. The subject of the situation of contemporary women is addressed. The painting is painted in the convention of figurative painting. Sewn artificial pearls add elegance and decorativeness.
