ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting is a continuing exploration of relationships between: Organic and Manmade; Angular and Curved; Specific and Implied; Rigid and Freeform; Various surface patterns; and Specific Colors: All in hopes of invoking feelings of curiosity and tranquility. Water based media on panels I make from salvaged materials is easy on on the environment; works well with the precisionist style I favor; and frees me from being limited to rectilinear shapes.

My focus involves vibrant colors in compositions that consider natural, built, and abstract elements in a portion of their physical and social/cultural context. I fabricate the panels from recycled building materials. I was born and raised on the plains of eastern Colorado, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Colorado State University in 1975. Since returning full-time to artwork in 2010 after a 30+ year career as an urban design consultant, my paintings have been included in many juried exhibits and have received a number of awards as outlined below.
