Slips on Slips Painting

My work examines the role of clothing in everyday life as well as its larger, cross-cultural impact on the global environment. I also seek to explore dynamics of overconsumption and disposability that influence our relationships with what we wear, both internally and externally. This series started with asking people about their wardrobes. I found that most people I talked to shared a common habit of accumulation. I took an interest in the similar clothing categories that people had multiples of. I began to layer imagery of overconsumption over the very items that we are consuming. By depicting personal collections layered over clothing that has been collected for disposal I further explore the ways that over-consumption affects us on an internal and external level.
