My goal is to depict the mysterious aspects of nature. Secret spaces behind fallen logs under leaves and beneath undergrowth. Using acrylic paint and a smooth wooden surface I choose a muted color palette to suggest a mood of nostalgia and reverie. Shallow space invites a closer inspection and draws the viewer into an intimate world of real and imagined creatures. My process is intuitive, but I also use photos and real objects for reference. I am inspired by many years studying metaphysical subjects and experiences with nature elementals and other non-phyical presences.
