Midday in a Castilian village. The belfry with its bells is the centre of the composition. In summer the sun of Castile, the land of El Cid Campeador, is usually inclement. Watercolor does not always have to be watery and faded tones. I have forced the ability to use intense color tones and forced the contrast between the deep sky and the warm colors to suggest the light intensity of the Spanish sun. I think I have managed to transmit the light of the midday sun in these deserted streets at siesta time.
