About The Artwork

I was inspired by the beautiful peninsular in Egypt and therefore the artwork is titled as the place where I got my inspiration. It is the first painting from Soma Bay series, portraying a sunset at the charming place, surrounded by the Red Sea. This abstract artwork takes the viewer to a hot and sandy land and is a perfect reflection of nature’s beauty. I brought sand from Soma Bay and Red Sea and used it to create this artwork, so no wonder that it is a perfect reflection of the Egyptian landscape. The painting is executed on canvas, I also used orange and yellow pigments and marble dust. Rich and firm texture is the result of a long layering and drying process. The canvas is stretched on a thick 4.5 cm chassis, reinforced with aluminium. The edges of the painting are nicely finished, so it does not require additional framing and is ready to hang. The artwork is signed on the back and comes with Certificate of Authenticity.

I started creating art in the eighties. At first I was fascinated by photography, later I started painting and experimenting with sculpture, but whatever art form I chose, it was always inspired by my adventurous expeditions. I spent a lot of time in Egypt, explored the landscapes of Morocco, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and felt the greatness of Bromo volcano in Indonesia. Colourful and sculpturesque landscapes are my major source of inspiration, especially deserts. I admire the colours, constantly changing shapes of the dunes and sand as a material. I return from all my trips with some sand, soil or volcano ash that I am using to create my art. Some of my pieces were born in the desert and later finished in my studio. My artworks are semi abstract models of the most beautiful landscapes of all the places I have explored and of course Switzerland — where I live and create. My goal is to lay the beauty and tranquility of nature on canvas, by creating emotional, deep and textured semi abstract artworks.
