About The Artwork

Sometimes the sky is just pink because that's how my heart felt that particular moment, because some days are better than others, because these beautiful pastels were layered in 2020, a difficult year where darkness prevailed and I needed a way out with colours which would embrace happiness and positivity in our world not ugliness. Despite it all, our world is beautiful and I wanted everyone who would be looking at this painting to remember that.

Ellie is a contemporary artist, art educator and Ancient Greek lecturer. She grew up in Greece but she has lived in England and currently she lives with her husband and three children in Singapore, Through her studies she had had the chance to get familiar with the works of the masters from the classical and byzantine era to renaissance and modern times. While studying History of Art she felt she had found her call in life. Painting came to her life unexpectedly but it was love at first sight .Many of her works are attune with moments in nature and her childhood experiences in the island of Crete, the beautiful light of the mesmerising sun, the heavenly beaches, the gold of the byzantine iconography. "I love painting what emotionally and visually strikes my interest, from landscapes and shorelines to abstract ideas and feelings. I do not set boundaries on what to paint and allow myself to be free to chance, spontaneity and light. I appreciate and relish the diversity and beauty of this world. Chance and the unexpected has played an important role in my life and that is why I integrate these components in my artistic journey. I love the little surprises of the unexpected". Ellie has had solo exhibitions in Singapore and many group exhibitions around the world since 2015. She has both physical gallery representation and many collaborations with highly esteemed online galleries in Europe, South East Asia and Japan.
