About The Artwork
The piece is painted with "Leningrad" watercolor paint, gouache and acrylic ink on 250gr watercolor paper. It's part of a series of illustrations based around a fictional world of caves, where each character represents some traits and emotions of a self-aware human being (e.g. Wisdom, Hope, Despair, Love...). The thing that inspired me to make this particular work was the juxtaposition between the pros and the cons of a certain human trait, in this case - wisdom. I was really interested in how a person with much experience and wisdom can often live a very solitary and closed-off life, based on his triumphs and failings. I chose this style, because I have a background in animation and illustration and I believe this style of drawing could resonate with a wider audience.
