Still Life with Violin, Seascape Painting and Glass Ball We are heading into the heart of winter carrying with us an infinite number of uncertainties, fears but also a lot of hope. Many of us are imprisoned again in our own houses where time seems to have stopped. Our gaze falls on those objects that kept us company in everyday life in the last years and it seems that only now we are really starting to see them. My mind travels far away, into the past, to the Baroque period, when the Dutch masters painted wonderful still lifes wrapped up in a fantastic synergy of lights and shadows. Those times have a lot in common with the contemporary time, the epidemic plague was a burden upon Europe and the political scenario was uncertain, the myth of the renaissance man as a demigod was vanishing...But I would like to leave those times and go further, I want to dream about something that gives me the idea of freedom: the sea.Yes, the sea is the favourite symbol for the unconscious, the mother of all that lives, we all came from the ocean, once our ancestral home. As Carl Jung says, the sea is like music, it has all the dreams of the soul within itself and sounds them over. For me, an image that represents the sky melting into the sea means a glimpse of eternity. The low relief flowers are manufactured in ceramic covered with silver foil and the background baroque ornaments includes natural stones like moonstone, greenaventurine, amethyst, unakite, rosequarts and redjasper.
