ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This work was inspired by a local bakery here in Richmond, VA, Sub Rosa. They create the most beautiful sourdough loaves of bread. This particular loaf is a polenta bread, that has local heirloom corn baked into it. I was inspired to create this piece after working on a pencil sourdough years ago, and wanting to try my hand at a more detailed portrayal of the inner crumb. There is a whole universe inside the loaf, and this is a tribute to its beauty and complexity.
