Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Gesso, Paint on Canvas.

This abstract acrylic painting on 12 x 16" stretched canvas represents both the emotional toll of the COVID-19 pandemic and one of my coping strategies while in lockdown at home. The stylized flowers and spring colours highlight the typical representations of Spring; however, Spring 2020 is far from typical. The stormy and dark lines that cut across the Spring colours and flowers depict the undertones of anxiety, fear and uncertainty brought about by the pandemic. The gradient shows the growing number of negative impacts from COVID-19, and the increasingly dark emotional toll it can take, but notice that the bright beautiful flowers and tones that arise from Spring are not totally eclipsed by the pandemic. This is the underlying intention of this painting - to remind everyone that despite the challenges, there are hopes and joys that can come from life in Spring 2020.

Please note that this painting has hooks and wiring installed on the back for hanging.
