Elena Murtazin is a visual artist based in Bremen, Germany. She predominately works in oil and on silk, creating paintings and wearable paintings. Her artworks distinct themselves through brave, confident brushstrokes and radiant colors which contrast her usually delicate subject matters. For those she takes her inspiration in nature, balancing botanical accuracy with expressive abstraction.  Elena was born in Mytischi, a town in proximity to Moscow. From the youngest age, she developed a profound love for drawing and painting. During her childhood, she spent many hours in nature, with an ever-growing fascination for its shapes, colors, and details. While painting still remained her passion, she obtained a diploma in chemistry at Lomonosov Moscow State University and in translation and intercultural communication at Moscow State Linguistic University, being also interested in foreign languages. While working full-time as a translator she took up a third university education program, Fashion Design at Kosygin Moscow State Textile University, combining her love for both visual arts and textile. This course included extensive training in both drawing and painting. In 2008 Elena moved to Germany with her family. In her current works, she returns to the themes that initially sparked her joy in art, while using the experience and expertise she acquired both during her university and her independent studies. Her work is held in private collections worldwide. "Painting  for me is the perfect combination of expressing my soul and creating beauty in the world by reflecting the reality under the specific angle and light.”
