Returning to a previous idea in painting, I am aiming to produce a series based on a 'stack' motif. Similar works made have often followed the principles of minimalism and formalist techniques with clean edges and linear patterns. This will always interest me, as well as design and architecture- a real passion of mine. However, if I can, I want to free myself up a little and make work that has fewer restrictions and that welcomes chance and unpredictability. I'd say the theory behind the work stays the same, I simply want to explore it from a different angle.

These paintings are a lot about colour and for me I've always had an interest in ideas of movement, time, and progression. This is why my work often includes repetition and continuous forms. They can be seen as abstracts alone but I'd say nature and landscape play a large part too, constantly feeding into my practice.

The Artist: My focus is on creating abstract and minimalist paintings that explore the relationship between colour, form, and space. I believe that by simplifying the elements in a painting, I can create a more powerful and emotive composition. My goal is to create work that is visually striking, yet also thought-provoking and open to interpretation. The minimalism in my paintings is not a lack of content, but rather a way to distill the most essential elements, leaving room for the viewer to find their own meaning and connection to the work. My abstract paintings are a reflection of my innermost thoughts and feelings, and I hope that they can evoke a similar response in those who view them. In my work, I strive to push the boundaries of traditional painting techniques, experimenting with different mediums and textures to create a sense of depth and movement. I find inspiration in both the built environment and the natural world, as well as in the work of other artists past and present. My process is intuitive, starting with a basic idea or feeling and allowing the painting to evolve organically. I often work in layers, building up the surface of the canvas with multiple applications of paint. This allows me to create a sense of depth and movement, as well as to incorporate unexpected elements into the composition. Overall, my work is a reflection of my ongoing exploration of the fundamental elements of painting and my desire to create work that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant. - Elliot received a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the Manchester School of Art and studied architecture at the Manchester School of Architecture. He exhibits his work frequently within London and the UK. His work can be found in private collections in Europe and the U.S, and also in the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures department, University of Manchester. In August, 2021, he completed a large mural for the entrance to Bonhams Auction House, situated on New Bond Street in the heart of London. “Elliot Minor is a young and exciting artist who we are very happy to exhibit. We won't bang on in extravagant hyperbole about his ability - see for yourself at the Fair” Nicholas Bowlby Fine Art - Affordable Art Fair, Battersea October 2021 - Edit from 2016, Saatchi Art Curator Jessica McQueen, ‘One to Watch’- “Elliot Minor’s minimalist abstracts are rooted in nature.
