Standing Labrador Dog Portrait Painting

Born 1959 in Macclesfield Cheshire. United Kingdom. 
I began drawing and painting at the age of 5 and knew from that early age, that all I wanted to be was an artist! 
I am completely self taught and have spent most of my life studying the techniques and knowledge of the Old Masters in great detail. I am one of the very few artists who sometimes still use these 500 year old techniques, which often includes making my own oil paints and mediums.

 My major influences being Rembrant, Da Vinci, Titian, Caravagio, Vermeer, Poussin and many others. I also very much admire the canine art of artists such as Maud Earl, Arthur Wardle, John Emms etc.
 Thankfully, I am considered to be one of the UK’s leading contemporary Canine, Equestrian and Landscape artists, working predominantly in Oils and Acrylics. 

I am a member of the Canine Art Guild. I was awarded with the "Best new artists" award by the Fine Art Trade Guild in 1998. 

My paintings are in many private collections Worldwide, including celebrities and British Royalty.
 I also have the great honour of being in the art history books, by being the only living artist to have work permanently hanging in the prestigious gallery of the Kennel Club in London. My work hanging alongside the likes of Sir edwin Landseer, Maud Earl, Arthur Wardle etc.

 Many of my works being produced as both Limited Edition and Open Edition prints by some of the leading art publishers.

 I paint using several basic styles, one of detailed realism, one more "contemporary" stye for my landscapes and my other more loose "Old Masters" art style.

 My main categories of paintings (and commissions), being Canine, Equestrian and Contemporary Landscape art. The older I get, the more I come to value the art of impressionism and this is now reflected in my landscape art. 

I now live and work from my home in Shropshire UK.
