The Statue of Liberty is such an icon in the history of New York City and the United States. Living in NYC we encounter the Statue of Liberty from afar in so many of our everyday activities. On flights to and from New York City from. While driving in and around New York City. From the waterfront park at the Battery. Boat tours and ferries around the island. Even on the shuttle to and from IKEA. We were taking the Staten Island Ferry on a foggy Spring morning when we saw the statue. The Statue of Liberty series #1, #2, and #3 were created from that boat trip. It’s my very impressionistic take one of my favorite New York City images. The work is 4” x 12” The white floater frame is 5 ¼” x 13 ¼” x 1 ¾”

Please enjoy my gallery.. and hope the 2024 Holiday Season is bright.. “The still lifes focus on intimate scenes from daily life, while the Film Noir & Western works evoke imagery inspired by the American films of that genre. “Initially I decided to focus on small intimate moments from my own life at home and while traveling, noticing when sunlight hit items in an interesting way.” “Painting is a creative outlet for me when I’m not acting. It gives me a feeling of control over my creative life. An actor often has to wait for projects to come along, but I can paint any time of the day. I sometimes describe my art as ‘spontaneous still life’. Whenever I see a likely subject, everything stops and I take photographs. This holds the moment in time until I can paint it.” “When working from the photos I don't necessarily want to re-create it exactly, but look to reimagine it. I do this it by adding color, and working with the light source to represent a mood or capture a feeling.” Unless otherwise noted, the compositions are oils on canvas or linen and range in size from 5” x 8” to 30” x 40”.
