2017 is the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Detroit Riots (or more accurately put, the Detroit Rebellion). And, of course, many of the issues protested then are still with us today - or even getting worse. Stay woke.

During the time of the Roman Republic, the Gracchus brothers sacrificed their lives in pursuit of various populist reforms. Many historians identify the Gracchus brothers as the first to articulate a vision of proletarian revolution. The handle "Grakkus" is a tribute to these men, and this vision. The beauty of Street Art is that it, too, is egalitarian. It doesn’t require a post-graduate degree, or mastery of technical art jargon. Rather, its energy is human energy, and the styles and symbols it deploys are those of pop culture. It is current, it is raw and it is accessible. The crowns which appear in many of my pieces are a nod to Basquiat, and the stencil-type looks are inspired by Warhol’s silk-screening methodology. And, of course, the influence of Banksy and graffiti artists everywhere hovers over and inspires all of my work. I work primarily on commission. Feel free to reach out:
