About The Artwork

Stereotypes as Inalienable parts of Society is a painting I made in 1994 (I think). It is 180 x150cms and is a painting of my daughter Zoe and a member of the Royal Navy, John Nixon. The title speaks for itself. I have depicted John Nixon as a rather ominous character in the painting which is at odds with his true character. The painting is about how we stereotype people without knowing who they really are. My daughter takes on a Velasquezesque pose while wearing a dressing up dress. Private collection, London
