Part of ‘Comfort Zone’ project. "Everywhere we look for the unconditional, but we find only things." - Novalis acrylic, pastel, paper 330 gsm; 3 panels, Sediment process *, 215/ 100,5 см, UV Schmincke coating Details of the painting : https://youtu.be/tR99PaI-8Lc Framing: upper and lower aluminum molding (scratched) with fasteners, plexiglass 2 mm, two-point suspension ------------- * Elitsa Baramó's long-term project ‘Sediment Process’ is based on her eponymous author's concept, pivotal for the aesthetics she develops in her artworks. It thematizes existence, making philosophical generalizations about the freedom of human will and its limits, reflecting on the presence of eternal values in the contemporary world as well as the selective nature of memory, the subjectivity of perception and the surrounding ‘landscape’. This new pictorial auto-concept, developed successively over the years, is a visual language with its specific syntax and is based on mathematical logic and linear perspective. It recreates a feeling of movement through cross-sections, with the means of painting. It conveys the message of an aesthetic of slow motion – an ethical opportunity to observe the phase of deviation and in the context of current events – for understanding and tolerance beyond the ego. The images created with her author's approach ‘Sediment Process’ are deliberately reminiscent of sculptures or bas-reliefs. The monolithic stone is the metaphor she choses for the beginning of every human life. She represents our existence as a “slow stone sculpture under construction”, which takes shape according to our choices and will – both personal and supernatural.
