One of the paintings included in the series "On the perimeter". "On the perimeter" touches the subject of the coexistence of nature and urban landscape. The series is inspired mainly with Japanese cityscapes and my travels to this country as well as Białowieża Forest (Europe’s last primaeval forest, North-East Poland). Through these works I would like to rethink the concept of balance. As well as try to answer the question if the balance within ecosystem dominated by human is possible at all. The series was exhibited at Agora Cultural Centre in Wrocław (Poland), in October 2017.

Daria Pietryka (1983) / Visual artist, architect and scenographer. She is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, The School of Architecture at University College Dublin and Wrocław University of Science & Technology, Faculty of Architecture. She operates on the perimeter of visual arts and architecture. She observes relations between ecosystem created by humans and things that are uncontrollable, wild, and out of human impact. Through her works she also studies human relations in micro and macro scale, as well as how gradually, through the times a role of women in a tissue of society changes.
