Painting: Acrylic on Canvas.
Barbara Houwers works tell stories about men, communication and life in a personal and expressive style. This first painting Houwers made in 2016 is about "current" in colours, brushstrokes and an almost "aquarel" transparancy. The subjects (men) are almost streamed away in he composition. Houwers paints on the cutting edge of figuration and abstraction and her works leave much to the imagination. About the technique: Houwers painted this subject in strong lines and vivid bright but soft colours, with spontanious brushstrokes and palet knife traces on the canvas. Her technique is striking, with strong lines and expressive gestures. She starts each painting with thin transparent surfaces and creates the main characters in the depiction with strong lines and expressive gestures, Then layer after layer she accomplishes subtle and harmonic color and paint tones. Her paintings can be characterized by their extraordinary transparency. By means of palet knives, structures and a pasty and dynamic use of paint are created. In the last phase she sketches by means of lines the final touches until the composition has reached the right balance.
Materials: On first quality linen the painting is streched on a wooden frame, back-stapled and is a ready to hang piece. The edges are painted, so a frame will not be needed. The shipment is in heavvy protecting materials and a flat box.
