Painting: Acrylic, Pencil, Marker, Graphite, Gesso on Paper.
Playful fun and funky abstract expressionism with a lot of energy and mark making.
I name my pieces by what occurred while painting the piece: what moved me, what struggles had to be overcome, my mood, my train of thought, what the piece reminded me of, sometimes a song that was on and the beat moved me or the lyrics influenced me in some way. I never intentionally start out a painting saying “I’m going to do this, or I’m going to do that”. All of my pieces morph into something that is totally surprising and unexpected.
This is one in a series of pieces that were inspired by the twists and turns of creating art and in life and how this journey is like a very long car trip on back roads with the winding roads, different scenery and obstacles that will unexpectedly happen. How its about the journey and not so much about the destination.
It was done with acrylic and mixed media on heavy Bristol paper. It is signed on the front with the title, date and a second signature on the back.
