About The Artwork
My studio is perpetually littered with the detritus of production. I've been proliferating there at full tilt for 9 years rarely stopping to sweep never mopping...the finished work itself is treated differently; stored away as an archival collection rather than an accumulation carefully housed in racks built especially to protect it from the storm which is my method of madness and painterly abandon. All that said, it is a delightful room filled with the spirit of the muse constantly lit up by this two story window. It's interesting not only to paint this view but to see it from here away from the actual place. The attraction of the portrait is the mirror like familiarity mixed with the mystery of it's inevitable aging into a moment in the past. Like youth, it's passing and ephemeral and heartbreakingly beautiful.
