Art Description

Painting: Acrylic on Cardboard.

Whilst attending some training in the deepest depths of Devon, I went for a walk in the grounds of the country house and found this stunning, but empty swimming pool, which had clearly not been used in years. Outside of its natural beauty, the shapes and colours of the structure and the garden features, an empty pool holds many other meanings.

What do you see? What comes to your mind? How do you feel?

In this study for the larger paintings, I experimented with putting a figure in the composition. I wanted to explore how this changed the ideas and feelings of the empty pool. What do you think?
