ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Study no. 24 (Sunrise) - Acrylics, watercolor, permanent black marker and pencil on paper, 21 x 30 cm, 2020 This study is part of a recent series that I indend to explore and develope in the future, that incorporates all my interests over time: from illustration to fashion, from painting to drawing, from dots to line work. The main theme is the feminine figure in various situations, not as a portrait but as an archetypal vehicle for different human emotions as well as for certain aspects of metamorphosis. Delicate faces, nostalgic eyes searching the horizon, expressions of fear, hope, honesty, trust, disappointment, love, passion, regrets and expectations with only a glimpse of the unbreakable feminine strength behind them.

Born in 1982, Timişoara, Romania. Based in Timişoara, Romania. "My current artistic interest is focused on the young feminine figure, not as a portrait but as an archetypal vehicle for different human emotions as well as for certain aspects of metamorphosis. Delicate faces, nostalgic eyes searching the horizon, expressions of fear, hope, honesty, trust, disappointment, love, passion, regrets and expectations with only a glimpse of the unbreakable feminine strength behind them. I use narrative driven images with symbolic twists and turns embedded with elements from the mineral world, plants and fauna, all are interwoven to act as reflections of my personal epiphanies. My work reveals my interest in the escapism and melancholy of the 19th century Romantic aesthetics and the contemporary social environment- a melancholic attitude towards the lost spiritual values, as well as a deep interest for what lies beneath the surface of daily life."
