The paintings from this series are based on the concept that we use to play God and not even realizing it. In a very laic understanding, not a religious one, we all have tremendous power over the things that surrounds us, and this power can profoundly change everything. Like in the butterfly effect metaphor, the smallest choices that we make will influence events and lives around us. And from here comes a huge responsibility that we must be aware of – our actions will impact everything we touch - people, animals, nature, the whole world. We have a great power, and we must be very careful of how we use it.

The golden aura is used here as a symbol of “the one who performs miracles”, but the “numbers” of my “saints” are meant to bring the character back to secular and profane. We can perform small “miracles” every day without being a divinity, just being mindful and kind.

I am born and raised in Romania and I live in the heart of Transylvania, in a beautiful town called Cluj-Napoca. Although my education combined Philosophy and Economics, 10 years ago I fell in love with graphic design and I have been working in graphic design in the last 8 years. I own a boutique graphic design & branding studio named Friendly Label, you can learn more about us here: Graphic design and painting are the perfect ways to communicate and I am fascinated about non-verbal communication in art and the ways in which a painting, a piece of music, a photography, can express much more than words themselves. My paintings are usually based on psychological or philosophical concepts, exploring different angles of our contemporary fast paced urban lives. A fast-forward life in which we alienate from one another, we alienate from the rest of the world and start seeing only our own “bubble”. We take the preformatted information that it is served to us, we don’t have time to filter anything through our rational magnifying glass and slowly become the fluffy robots that reduce their existence to work and their social media accounts. My paintings “talk” about indifference, superficiality, alienation, ego, emotions, suppression, and many more. I like to explore in the way I paint, and each thought that inspires a painting is better made manifest in a different style or technique. I love the acrylic, but I also love the limitless possibilities of mixed media, I love the brush stroke, but I also love the painting knives… For me painting is a journey, I discover amazing things with each step of the way, and I am only at the beginning…
