ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I’ve been exploring the distortion created by looking down on bodies in the water lately. I like the way the person becomes part of the water. My process is to paint in layers, letting each layer dry before adding the next, it adds to the feeling of depth and immersion in the water. I am always chasing the physical memory of being in water.... Framed in a white tray frame.

Originally from New Zealand, I have been in the U.K. for 20 years now, after 18 years in London I relocated out to the lush Kent countryside where I paint in a studio at the bottom of the garden with my dog and 6 Music. In my paintings I love the idea of recreating the physical memory of water, sunshine and light. I aim to capture in a single moment the exhilaration, the joy, the solitude or the tranquility of being in the water. I explore all manner of subjects in my work but I find the underlying connection of water seems to reoccur continuously.
