Painting: Acrylic on Canvas, Wood.
Motifs can often be identified with certain geographical regions and ethnies around the world. I borrowed this yellow, grey and black grid motif from the Scots. As it was too rigid for my liking I decided to see if I could render it more rustique. Consequently I superimposed a répétitive floral motif where I refined the width of the painted trace by covering it with the equivalent background color that only approximates the original yellow and grey. This gives a more painterly appeal to a surface that was otherwise too cleanly illustrated.
