ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This is a painting of a river in Wisconsin. I was commissioned to paint it for a family visits their farm. This was a study for a larger painting. I hope that viewers will feel a sense of peace and tranquility. It takes my back to my childhood. We used to take hikes along the creek, and I have vivid memories of the patterns of light shining through the trees. It's like soft, luminous paw prints. This is a reference to Rita Dove's poem, "Fifth Grade Autobiography."
