I live in a beautiful part of Thailand, so my art tells vivid and thought-provoking stories of my life, my land, and its people.

I often go down to the beach very early before sunrise, for me it’s the best part of the day, not too hot and little wind, the only other person about will be the local fishing man.
The sky starts turning from a dark blackness to a magnificent storm of colour, never the same and never the same colours, always different and always glorious, it sometimes takes my breath away.

I’ve tried to capture the colours, I know I can never do nature justice but I’ve tried to get that dramatic effect of the sun just beginning up peep up over the horizon, the fisherman in his boat is pulling in his haul and desperately hoping for a good catch, fishing here is a rough and dangerous business, it’s the weather decides when they go fishing and it's the weather decides if they come back, every time our local fishing man goes out he says goodbye to his family as if it's the last time he will see them, they go out in their boats far out to sea, I see them sometimes out there when the sea is black and angry, the sky grey and forbidding, that little boat is tossing around he has no life jacket, he probably can’t even swim.
I sit at a clean canvas, my imagination, oils, brushes, knife and fingers ready to start work, I have an idea, I start to paint, my head is telling my hands what to do, but sometimes my head changes so I delete and start again and so it goes until I’m happy with my work, then sometimes I use a palette knife to cover the whole canvas in random strokes and I see something like a photo an image and follow my feelings.

I get a lot of my inspiration from three artist; Claude Monet with his use of colour, his expressiveness, detail and the softness of his beautiful paintings, Vincent van Gogh with his bold use of colour his expressiveness, and I like to think I’m a little impulsive like him, and Lowry unbelievable he produced the work he did just using five colours.

My art tells stories, not always happy and joyful, not always bright and full of light, but always full of my feelings, vivid, interesting and thought-provoking. I always try to put something of myself in my paintings; in the form, the colours, the brush stokes, my feelings, my joy, sometimes my darkness but I hope mostly joy and happiness.

Ta Byrne is a Thai artist who lives and works on the beautiful island of Koh Samui, just off the south coast of Thailand. Her Oil Paintings . are vibrant, eye-catching and packed with a sense of fun and humour. Ta takes humans as her focal point in her Figurative Painting but abstracts these figures by distorting them and using a cartoonish style to create a more humorous feel. While her work is mostly representational, she incorporates Surrealist elements in many of her paintings, making her one of the most exciting artists working in Thailand today. Ta comes from humble beginnings, living out her childhood on the rural outskirts of Bangkok as a farmer's daughter. During her teen years, she worked sewing shirts in a Bangkok sweatshop, and it was during this time that she met an old street artist who invited her to his studio. This sparked her desire to become an artist, and since then, she has gone on to produce Abstract and Cubist paintings that have received international acclaim from art connoisseurs.
