About The Artwork

I once was told that bees live in another dimension. My own dimension is much like abstract realism. And that's pretty much how I see the world around me. Reality is just layers of thoughts made up through our own consciousness, ideas and intuition. Dreams too, are often abstract with a potential for deeper meaning inside them. When we look at an abstract painting with a familiar image it like a bee it can grab us and make sense to our hearts but not our heads. In the moment when I am creating a piece, the art comes through as a glorious visual language from my heart. I am a beekeeper as well and bees are a very large part of my heart which is why I love to celebrate them and include them in my visual language.

Aldrich is a native of South Carolina. Born in Greenville and now residing in Summerville she is a writer, painter and beekeeper. She studied at the College of Charleston and has a degree in Arts Management. While pursuing her passion in beekeeping in 2015 she was approached by The History Press to write a book titled, The History of Honey in Georgia and the Carolina’s. In continuation of her love of apiculture, she found a niche for making honeybee inspired art. Abstract realism is her style. She’ll tell you that because its pretty much how she sees the world around her. She says, “Reality is just an abstract layer of thoughts made up of consciousness, ideas and intuition. Dreams are often abstract with potential for deeper meaning inside them too. But they speak to us, and can touch us the same way music or art does with all of its own mysterious meanings and connections.”
