Surfers 4 Painting

Surfers 4 is part of a series inspired by the outdoors and Australians love of and engagement with it. I spend most of my spare time at the beach entranced by the surfers moving in and out of the waves trying to catch the elusive breaks. Their passion for the water fuels my own creative desires.The picture uses new timber that has no pre existing textures and marks unlike other pieces in this series all effects are formulated by hand. I hope viewers are taken to the seaside and a time of pleasure and carefree enjoyment. The mediums are acrylic on MDF board to give a sense of permanence to the fleeting movement of the surfers actions flowing as they are and hard to pin to the canvas. Memory plays a part in my drawings as it is the feeling of their activity i wish to capture not a photographic reproduction.
